Best Honeymoon Destinations in October 2026

If you’ve been wondering where the best honeymoon destinations are in October to take your honeymoon in fall 2026; let me tell you a little truth most couples overlook: October might just be the best month of the entire year to travel.

By fall, the chaos of summer travel is over. The crowds are smaller, the weather mellows out, and the world feels quieter in the best way. And after what I experienced last year, I’ll never stop singing the praises of fall travel. When Hurricane Helena hit Cancún in September 2024, I was there — and while I was incredibly lucky that my flight wasn’t canceled, the airport was pure chaos. Guests trying to leave early were stuck for days, lines stretched for hours, and resort staff were working 15-hour shifts just to keep everyone safe and comfortable. Watching that unfold reminded me just how unpredictable hurricane season can be — and why planning your honeymoon after it ends makes all the difference.

So if you’re dreaming of a honeymoon in October 2026, here are six destinations that deliver sunshine, luxury, and romance without the hurricane stress.

And if you’re wondering “why the heck should I listen to this lady?” Let me introduce myself! I’m Laura Lynn — concierge travel advisor based in St Louis, MO. I specialize in being a honeymoon planner and I am the founder of Forever In Paradise Co. I can’t wait to share hand-picked favorite best honeymoon destinations in October for couples who want an elevated, once-in-a-lifetime escape.

🌺 Hawaii

View from a helicopter tour in Kauai, Hawaii.

Visiting Hawaii in October is a dream for couples taking their honeymoon — you’ll have warm water, lots of activities to do and sights to see, and shoulder season means calmer crowds. Every island has its own personality, and choosing the right one for your honeymoon sets the tone for your entire trip.

🌋 Maui — The Classic Romantic

Maui is made for honeymooners. You and your loved one can enjoy sunset catamarans with luauas and barbecues, as well as candlelit dinners on Wailea Beach. Take drives along the Road to Hana where waterfalls spill onto lush cliffs. If you love the ocean, snorkeling in Maui on your honeymoon is a must. The ocean is calm enough to explore vibrant reefs teeming with tropical fish and sea turtles. A morning at Molokini Crater or Turtle Town feels like swimming in your own private aquarium — it’s peaceful, colorful, and one of those “we’ll remember this forever” core memories.

🌴 Oahu — More Than Just Waikiki

If you love the energy of a city but still want surf and sand, Oahu is your match. Spend the morning hiking Diamond Head, the afternoon shopping in Waikīkī, and the evening having a steak dinner on a rooftop overlooking the ocean. I highly recommend visiting the east side to see Byodi-In Temple, it is truly one of my favorite places on earth. It is the perfect place to center yourself spirtiually and with the earth, regardless of religion or lack thereof.

Spend your mornings snorkeling in Hanauma Bay, where coral gardens and tropical fish glow beneath calm turquoise water. Pro tip: tickets for Hanauma Bay open two days in advance and sell out fast — set a reminder to book right when they’re released so you don’t miss your spot. One of my best tips for honeymooning in Oahu is to enjoy afternoon tea at the Moana Surfrider. This experience is one of my favorite hidden gems for my clients. You’ll enjoy a variety of menus while overlooking the ocean, featuring signature cocktails, finger foods, and all the old-Hawaii charm. Be sure to reserve your table in advance, since the best seating times fill quickly.

🌿 Kauai — The Garden Isle

Kauai is called the “Garden Isle,” and is the oldest of the 4 major islands. For couples craving privacy and nature, Kauai is pure magic. You can take helicopter tours over emerald valleys, visit beaches that feel secret, go hiking in Waimea Canyon, and have romantic dinners on your porch or balcony surrounded by nothing but the sounds of nature. Kauai is a place to connect with each other and the earth on your honeymoon, the quiet is the perfect place to start forever. You can also catch a glimpse of Ni’ihau from Kauai, the forbidden island you won’t be visiting on your honeymoon (or ever, probably, unless you are in the military and get special access).

🌋 The Big Island — Volcanic Adventures Couples

“The Big Island”, the biggest island officially named Hawaii, is full of adventure. It feels a little wilder, a little more untamed, and completely unforgettable. You can spend your mornings lounging by a black-sand beach and your afternoons chasing waterfalls. I highly recommend exploring the lava fields of Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park.

If you love to snorkel, a night snorkel with manta rays in Kona is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Floating under the stars as these gentle giants swoop beneath you is pure magic. Tip: book your tour a few days ahead, since the best sunset slots fill quickly. For all my coffee lovers, visit a local coffee farm in Kona or take a drive through the island’s upcountry hills where the air smells like rain and roasted beans. End your evening with dinner at one of the luxury resorts in Waikoloa. The sunsets there are unreal and the stargazing is some of the best in the world.

🇬🇷 Greece

Greece in October is the definition of timeless romance — warm sunshine, calmer seas, and a slower, softer rhythm. The crowds thin out, the prices drop, and yet the beauty somehow gets even better. From historic cities to dreamy islands, this country is pure honeymoon magic.

🏛 Athens — History Meets Modern Romance

Start your honeymoon in Athens for a dose of history and rooftop romance. Spend a day exploring the Acropolis, then unwind with cocktails overlooking the Parthenon as the city glows at sunset. The fall weather is mild and breezy, perfect for sightseeing without overheating. I recommend to stay at a rooftop hotel in Plaka or Kolonaki. You’ll be close to the sites, and the views at night are unreal. Two full days here is recommended before you island hop, as you will want to soak it all in and catch up from jet lag.

🌅 Santorini — The Iconic Honeymooner’s Dream

Santorini in October is peaceful and impossibly romantic. You can wander the quiet alleys of Oia, enjoy cliffside dinners without waiting for a table, and actually hear the church bells echo across the caldera — something that’s hard to do in July.

Stay in a cave suite with a private plunge pool and wake up to those famous white-and-blue views. End your evenings with local wine, soft music, and a sunset that will genuinely ruin you for all future sunsets. I recommend booking a private yacht for one day or evening on your honeymoon. It’s the most romantic way to see the island, and October’s gentle winds make for smooth sailing.

🏖 Crete — Culture, Cuisine, and Calm

Crete is for couples who want a mix of beaches, adventure, and authentic Greek charm. October brings perfect weather for hiking through Samaria Gorge, exploring hidden mountain villages, or lounging at Elafonissi Beach, famous for its blush-pink sand.

Foodies will love Crete — farm-to-table dining, olive oil tastings, and slow meals that stretch for hours. It’s luxury with heart. The island is large, so pick one region and explore deeply rather than trying to drive it all. Chania is ideal for romance, while Elounda has gorgeous luxury resorts.

🌊 Mykonos — Style, Sun, and Seaside Luxury

By October, Mykonos transforms. The summer party scene quiets down, leaving behind soft winds, open beaches, and a much more romantic energy. It’s perfect for couples who still want glam — designer hotels, chic restaurants, and a touch of nightlife — without the crowds.

Wander through the whitewashed streets of Little Venice, book a couples’ massage overlooking the sea, and watch the sun melt into the horizon from 180° Sunset Bar.

Insider Tip: Many restaurants and clubs close mid-October, so visit earlier in the month if you still want that lively Mykonos energy.

🇮🇹 Italy

taly in October feels like stepping into a dream. The weather is calm and golden, and the crowds are finally gone. Every street feels softer, every meal slower, and every view looks like a painting. It’s the kind of place that makes you fall in love all over again.

Spend your mornings exploring Rome, where history meets modern romance. Wander through the Colosseum, toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain, and sip cappuccinos in Trastevere as the city hums quietly around you. Evenings are made for long dinners — think fresh pasta, deep red wine, and candlelight on a cobblestone patio.

Then escape north to Tuscany, where rolling hills and vineyards turn gold with harvest season. Visit Siena or Montepulciano for wine tastings, olive oil farms, and cozy countryside inns that feel like home. Head further north to Lake Como, one of the most romantic spots in all of Italy. The calm water reflects snow-dusted peaks, and grand villas line the shore. Spend your days cruising the lake, wandering the gardens of Villa del Balbianello, or enjoying lunch in Bellagio overlooking the mountains.

Finish your journey on the Amalfi Coast, where cliffs tumble into turquoise water and the lemon-scented air feels like pure joy. Stay in Positano or Ravello, take a private boat to Capri, and end your day with prosecco as the sun sets over the sea.

🇫🇷 France

France in October feels cozy and elegant all at once. The air is crisp, the trees are golden, and everything slows down just enough to feel intentional. It’s that perfect blend of luxury and comfort — a country made for couples who want to indulge without rushing. Start your trip in Paris, where the cafés feel warmer and the city glows under soft autumn light.

Walk hand-in-hand along the Seine, browse the art stalls near Notre Dame, and stop for croissants that flake perfectly with each bite. Visit the Louvre in the morning before the crowds, then linger in Le Marais for boutique shopping and wine at a corner café. In the evening, dress up for dinner near the Eiffel Tower or enjoy a private Seine River cruise with champagne and candlelight.

I would go from there and take a train to south to Provence or the French Riviera. The lavender fields fade into shades of gold, and the vineyards are busy with harvest. You can visit Nice, Èze, or Antibes, where the weather still feels like summer and seaside cafés stay open late. For something slower, stay inland at a charming wine estate surrounded by olive trees and cypress-lined hills, perfect for a honeymoon!

Popular bistros and fine dining spots in Paris book up quickly, even in the off-season. I make reservations for my clients ahead of time to guarantee the best tables. If you’re heading south, consider renting a car for a day to explore hidden villages between Aix-en-Provence and Gordes. It’s one of my favorite experiences to arrange for couples who want a true taste of quiet, authentic France.

🍷 Napa Valley, California

Napa Valley in October is golden perfection. The vineyards shimmer in fall color, the air smells like wine and oak, and everything feels relaxed but refined. It’s harvest season, so the valley is buzzing with energy. From grape picking, festivals, and cozy fireside tastings, it is a honeymoon destination that feel like pure magic.

Start your mornings slow with breakfast and a glass of champagne before heading to Yountville or St. Helena for private tastings. The weather is warm during the day, cool at night, and perfect for convertible drives through the hills. For something unforgettable, take a hot-air balloon ride at sunrise — floating over rows of gold-toned vineyards is truly once-in-a-lifetime.

I always recommend the Napa Valley Wine Train to my honeymoon clients — it’s such a unique, luxurious experience that combines fine dining, stunning vineyard views, and that nostalgic sense of old-world travel. You travel around the area on a refinished 1914 pullman car, and some even feature a vista dome! My couples always rave about it afterward, and I always aim to secure extra perks for my clients. They noramally enjoy complimentary wine flights or exclusive upgrades, to make the experience even more special. It’s truly one of the most memorable ways to see Napa.

🌴 Antigua

Antigua is where the Caribbean meets calm luxury — turquoise water, soft breezes, and 365 beaches, one for every day of the year. It sits safely outside the main hurricane belt, which makes it one of the best tropical honeymoon spots in October. The weather is warm, the crowds are light, and everything feels slow and unhurried.

Days here are meant for snorkeling, catamaran cruises, and lazy afternoons in private beach cabanas. Visit Dickenson Bay or Half Moon Bay for calm, clear swimming, or spend an evening at Shirley Heights for live music and sunset views that stretch across the island. Many resorts include butlers, plunge pools, and candlelit dinners right on the sand.

If you’re craving adventure, take a boat trip to Green Island or zipline through the rainforest before ending your day with rum punch and ocean views. Even though Antigua is quieter in October, the best all-inclusive suites and private excursions still book quickly. I always secure these details for my clients in advance — from beachfront dining spots to sunset sails — so their entire trip feels effortless from start to finish.
